2017 Roundup and 2 Finished CAL's!

Helo everyone! I waited a few days into the new year before posting this for one very specific reason; to finish and photograph my 2017 Temperature Afghan! I needed 3 extra square to make the blanket squares so I used the 1st - 3rd of Jan's temperatures, I completed them yesterday, and photographed today!

Heya everyone! I haven't disappeared, I have been busy! :D While I've been working on multiple commissions, i've also been preparing for and selling at a craft fair, working on 2 CAL's and baking a birthday cake - all while playing one of my favourite games, Heroes of the Storm AND watching Heroes esports :D

Whoa, that's a lot! I'll start you guys off with a photo of my Spirits of life Wrap, part of a Crochet-a-long (CAL) :D

Creative Process

The majority of my blankets are commission pieces, and they are all different, but they are all designed and created in the same way. I have all these colourful little pegs of all my yarn colours and I pick out the suitable ones and play around with making colours schemes.

Tinkerbell

Today I'm sharing a set I made a little while ago, but have only just gifted them to their new tiny owner, and now I can share :) I decided that I wanted to experiment with C2C (corner to corner) crochet, to create an image. I picked Tinkerbell, got some graph paper and got to work!

Temperature Afghan 2017

This year I'm working on a project I've been wanting to do for years, a temperature afghan. A blanket, that shows the temperature changes of an entire year.

I was prompted to finally start my temperature afghan project by a crochet-a-long hosted by Susan of Felted Button, the facebook group for the CAL can be found here :D The requirements for this CAL is simple, make a temperature afghan using one of Susan's patterns. I already had a few Felted Button patterns in my collection, and for this project i chose to use the Flying Colours pattern, using the colour of that day's high for the first two rounds, and using the colour of the low for the square's border colour, that connects all the squares. It's a very enjoyable pattern that I've now had memorised for a long time, it takes me a few minutes to whip up a square, join, and weave in the ends :)

Here's my chart, I've already used every colour other than the coldest! I'm using my fave yarn for blankets, Stylecraft Special DK, and these are my colour pegs :D
